TenCate Mirafi MPV, FG, and FGC Paving Fabrics
Mirafi® MPV Nonwoven Asphalt Overlay Fabric
Mirafi® MPV nonwoven asphalt overlay fabric forms a membrane that minimizes surface water from penetrating pavement systems and provides a stress relief interlayer which inhibits the growth of reflective cracks. Produced from polypropylene staple fibers, Mirafi® MPV is heat-set to provide a waterproofing barrier.
Mirafi® MPV Nonwoven Asphalt Overlay Fabric Functions for:
- sealing
- stress relief
- adhesive bonding
The Difference Mirafi® MPV Nonwoven Asphalt Overlay Fabric Makes
- prevents penetration of surface water into sub-grade soil
- stress-relieving interface to retard reflective cracking
- improves fatigue resistance of new overlay
- well-suited for different grades of tack coat
- climate-friendly
System Solutions:
Roadway/Railway Construction Pavement Restoration
- highways/streets
- parking lots
- bridges
- tennis courts
- running tracks
- basketball courts
- airport runways
- golf cart paths
- playgrounds
Mirafi® FG Asphalt Overlay Reinforcement System
Mirafi® FG asphalt overlay reinforcement systems are paving grids made of high modulus polyester or fiberglass yarns bonded to a light weight scrim. Used primarily for asphalt overlay reinforcement, the paving grid allows water to pass through the pavement system without damage to the structure.
Specifically designed for the construction and repair of flexible (asphalt) and rigid (concrete) pavements such as roads, parking lots, airfields, and other paved surfaces, Mirafi® FG asphalt overlay reinforcement system extends the life of the entire pavement system when placed with a suitable tack coat between the existing pavement and the asphalt overlay. The polyester scrim bonds to the existing pavement and is tacked with liquid asphalt, providing adhesion of the paving grid during construction of the hot mix overlay. Hot mix asphalt interlocks with the open grid, providing maximum reinforcement when bonded with the new pavement layer.
Mirafi® FG Asphalt Overlay Reinforcement System Functions for:
- reinforcement
- stress relief
- adhesive bonding
The Difference Mirafi® FG Asphalt Overlay Reinforcement System Makes:
- improvement of fatigue resistance of new overlays to heavy loads
- reduction of propagation of existing cracks with the new overlay
- excellent reinforcement due to high strength fiberglass/polyester yarns
- extension of overlay life
- overall strengthening of entire pavement system
System Solutions:
Roadway/Railway Construction
Pavement Restoration
- roads
- bridges
- parking lots
- golf car paths
- airport runways
- playgrounds
- mobile home parks
- shopping centers
- industrial parks
Mirafi® FGC Asphalt Overlay Reinforcement System
Mirafi® FGC asphalt overlay reinforcement system is composed of fiberglass grids bonded to a nonwoven paving fabric. This fabric meets AASHTO specifications. Used primarily in asphalt overlay reinforcement, the grids provide high strength at very low strains (less than 2% strain).
Specifically designed for the construction and repair of asphalt and concrete pavements, Mirafi® FGC asphalt overlay reinforcement system extends the life of the entire pavement system when placed with a suitable tack coat between the existing pavement and the asphalt overlay. Cracked pavements allow water to permeate into sub-grade soils, thereby saturating and weakening the subgrade.
Normally, an asphalt overlay is placed with a nonwoven paving fabric and a tack coat. While this procedure reduces reflective cracking, it does not provide reinforcement, only serving as a moisture barrier. By adding Mirafi® FGC asphalt overlay reinforcement system, cracks are contained before causing harm to the pavement overlay system.
Mirafi® FGC Asphalt Overlay Reinforcement System Functions for:
- soil reinforcement
- sealing
- stress relief
- adhesive bonding
The Difference Mirafi® FGC Asphalt Overlay Reinforcement System Makes:
- protection of sub-grade foundation soil due to the waterproof barrier
- improvement of fatigue resistance of new overlays to heavy loads
- reduction of propagation of existing cracks with the new overlay
- excellent reinforcement of pavement system due to high strength fiberglass/polyester yarns
- extension of overlay life
- overall strengthening of entire pavement system
