Drop Inlet Protection

Storm drain inlet protection prevents sediment from entering a storm drain system. Inlet protection can be achieved by the use of filters or impounding an area around or upstream of an inlet to allow sediment to settle. Storm drain inlet protection is a secondary BMP and is to be used in conjunction with erosion control BMPs.

One type of storm drain inlet protection is an inlet filter wherein a frame and filter basket is installed directly into a storm drain drop inlet structure. Another form is a bag designed for use with flat grates (including round) and mountable curbs to filter sediment-laden stormwater. The grate is removed from the frame, slipped into the bag, and then placed back into its frame. There is also an open-top bag that is designed to hang underneath a storm grate to filter sediment-laden stormwater.

NoFlood Filters

NoFlood® manufactures eco-friendly, reusable storm drain filters, that comply with all SWPPP and NPDES requirements for storm drain protection. All NoFlood products absorb oils, hydrocarbons, and heavy metals, along with collecting all trash and debris. All filters have an overflow rate of 800 gallons per minute, and is puncture and tear resistant against vehicle contact.

The NoFlood Filter has 4 lifting flaps, to guarantee sediment/debris recovery. The combined weight of the grate and the sediment/debris, is too much for lifting straps to handle; that is why the NoFlood® filter is designed to stay in place during grate installation and removal, even when it is completely full!

The special patented design and material allows the NoFlood® Filter to have a faster flow rate than the grate system itself. Areas for best performance include highways, construction sites, parking lots, and land development.

NoFlood Filter Advantages:
  • various filter sizes available that fit any type of storm drain
  • 800 GPM flow rate
